Amidst the busyness

Again i find myself desperately trying to do anything but schoolwork (I worked on my nursing paper all last weekend, had 4 quizzes this week, and needless to say, i'm taking the break that my grades cannot afford!). So I find myself frantically searching my mind for SOMETHING witty or funny or clever to say, and i'm afraid i've come up emptyhanded in all areas.
The only somewhat intelligent thing that i have to say actually comes from a book that im reading, so it's not even my idea (I'm afraid my brain is in permanent wind down mode right now). So back to the book (called "God is Closer Than You Think"... oh man, i was totally about to APA reference that.. you know that school's getting to you when...). It seems that everyone's blogs have been alot about the beauty of nature lately. Not that I'm disputing God's creation or anything (stars are pretty much the most amazing thing ever), but what about the most amazing thing of all.. humans (wow do i sound conceited.. but bear with me, because that's not who this blog is about...hey! i heard that sigh of relief!). I mean, there's not two people EXACTLY alike on the whole entire planet. Out of however many billion people there are on our planet, there's no two people who have the same likes, dislikes, eyes, noses, mouths, ears, brains (and i could pretty much go on forever with all sorts of complicated anatomy terms that you've never heard of and that i really don't know what they are, so i'll spare all of us the torture and just end it here) And the fact that we can think and feel and make stuff and dream, and just how intricately our bodies work (which i find out in GREAT detail in my anatomy and physiology classes). But the most amazing thing is that humans are created in the likeness of God. In my book it says that we are "God's body on earth," and "bearers of image of God." What a crazy huge responsibility! It's kind of humbling to know that he chose us lowly stupid humans to make beautiful (through and in him), and to represent him on earth! And not even just physically representing him, (which is basically living and "being" who we were created to be) but also conveying his personality and amazing love as well! I don't know about you, but it scares me to have somebody so important entrust me with something so huge!

And that's about my tired brain can handle for now.. hope you enjoyed my second attempt, or at least had a good nap in the middle!

Dedicated to the tamer of oceans... "you do all things well"

I think that you make a good point when you say that even though God's power is expressed through the beauty found in creation, we should not forget about us humans, the greatest of all creation because we were molded in His image. I find it both puzzling and amazing that God would choose to have us, sinful human beings, made in His likeness. I mean, if I were to have something made in my image, I would want it to not only look good, but also reflect my image 100% of the time, something that people would gaze at in wonder. Yet God chose us, and we definitely don't convey His image most of the time, if anything, we even damage His reputation. It just blows my mind.

That book is on my "too read" list. Good thoughts.

Bassmaster... remember that when God created humans in his image, they weren't sinful... otherwise we would be attributing sinfulness to God... I know you didn't mean it but I thought I'd share it anyhow. We do convey God's image all the time, just not his holy characteristics (which is what you were saying I think). We're broken people, in whom God's glory is still revealed and being made perfect.

Anyhow, I'm sure Steph wasn't expecting a theological talk on her blog so I'll stop. Have a good week Steph.

That's pretty much what I meant. I guess I just still find it amazing that as sinful human beings, we are still able to reflect God's image.

Seriously Steph, you need to learn how to 'TURN YOUR BRAIN OFF!!!' when you take a break. ex) not put all the school work into your blog! Ha. But seriously, let the brain breathe, you'll be fine.

Haha.. my bad! Unfortunately, for at least two more weeks, school will NEVER leave my thoughts. I'll try to cut down on my school thoughts in my future blogs though. (ps..i ONLY put 2 or 3 things on school)
